Opportunities to sponsor The Tourism Society's Tourism Symposium

Since its inception as the opening event at the International Festival for Business in Liverpool in 2014, the Tourism Symposium has established itself as the leading cross-sectoral conference addressing topical themes in tourism. One of its defining characteristics is the inclusion in the programme of speakers from related sectors such as arts and culture, which helps provide a very broad catchment area for delegates and topics. Overall the Symposium emphasises the inter-relatedness of these different sectors and shows the importance of communication between them.

Previously, the Tourism Symposium has been held in Liverpool, Canterbury and Birmingham. For 2017 it will move to Edinburgh, Scotland’s vibrant capital city and UNESCO world heritage site.

Over the two days of Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th June, delegates will have the opportunity to take part in one of four fascinating exploratory tours of both Edinburgh and Glasgow’s key cultural sites before enjoying an informal networking supper followed by a full day of debate, discussion sessions and presentations looking at the theme of ‘Heritage and Innovation: The Future of Tourism’.

The Opportunities

Operating since 1977, the Tourism Society has a network of approaching 1000 members and is considered the industry’s largest and most varied single group of tourism and travel experts. Members are mainly UKbased but we also have members from overseas, on every continent who are drawn from a variety of sectors: tour operators, hotel brands, PR, marketing and destination companies, tourist attractions, national, regional and local tourist boards, restaurants, trade media, charities, consultants, academics, students and educational establishments, among others. We anticipate up to 150 delegates will be joining us in Edinburgh over the two days of the Symposium; these will be Tourism Society members and also non-members from sectors associated with tourism and travel. By sponsoring the Symposium you will be able to put your organisation’s name in front of delegates who between them represent an extremely wide cross-section of our important industry, and will highlight you as an active participant in an industry whose influence spreads throughout the UK and beyond.
