Voice of Scotland's tourism industry strengthened by high profile board appointments

Following the publication of its widely publicised research report into future confidence within Scotland’s tourism industry earlier this month, the Scottish Tourism Alliance is delighted to announce the appointment of four high profile Board members, further strengthening the organisation’s position as ‘the voice of Scotland’s tourism industry’.

The new appointments bring a new level of diversity, breadth of expertise and an additional skillset to the Board now fully representative of Scotland’s regions and tourism sectors.

John Henderson (Founder of Born in the Borders), Marshall Dallas (CEO of Edinburgh International Conference Centre), Freda Newton (Managing Director of Loch Ness by Jacobite) and Scott Inglis (Commercial Director of Fishers Laundry Group) join the STA Board.

Commenting on the new appointments, Stephen Leckie, Chairman of the Scottish Tourism Alliance Board said:

“The message at the heart of Scotland’s Tourism Strategy 2020 is that ‘tourism is everyone’s business’ and these new appointments highlight how committed we are as an organisation to ensuring that the voice of Scotland’s tourism industry is represented with such a diverse group of leaders coming from a wide range of sectors and geographical spread.”

He added, “This is an important milestone for the STA and highlights the growing strength in our position leading on tourism matters; it’s a particularly exciting time for the organisation and I am delighted that we have been able to appoint from such a range of professional backgrounds.  Our new directors will complement the expertise and skillset of our existing Board members and I look forward to working with the new Board over the coming months to amplify our tourism messages.”

The announcement comes following the news earlier this month that the organisation will launch the first ever Scottish Tourism Month next year, replacing the traditional March tourism industry event of Scottish Tourism Week. The aim of the event will be to engage, connect and inspire all of Scotland’s tourism businesses and organisations, and celebrate the enormous contribution of the tourism industry to Scotland’s economy.
