STA Chair honoured at Scottish tourism awards

Stephen Leckie, Chairman of the Scottish Tourism Alliance & Chief Executive of Crieff Hydro was presented with the top honour at what is regarded as the most prestigious award in the Scottish tourism industry – The VisitScotland Thistle Awards.

 

Stephen was described as a “shining light” as he was presented with his award for his lifetime commitment to tourism in Scotland.

 

Mike Cantlay, Chairman of VisitScotland said; “It is with great pleasure that I’m awarding this year’s Silver Thistle Award to Stephen.  His outstanding contribution to tourism for the majority of his working life means there is no one more fitting than him to be recognised for this award.”

 

In addition to his role as STA Chairman and Chief Executive of Crieff Hydro, Stephen is also Chair of the Crieff Community Council and the Tourism Industry Leadership Group.  He holds office as a committee member of the British Hospitality Association, he is President and Director of Perthshire Chamber of Commerce and Deputy Lieutenant of Perth & Kinross – a title which is appointed by the Queen.

 

Marc Crothall, Chief Executive of the Scottish Tourism Alliance (STA) commented; “The board and members of the STA are delighted that Stephen has been recognised in this way he is a very well deserved recipient of the Silver Thistle. Stephen not only leads and inspires those who work at close quarters with him but everyone involved with the STA. He is a truly committed hard working professional who equally knows the importance of still making the industry fun and enjoyable to work in”.
