Sustainability award for Scottish golf courses

A Scottish council has become the first local authority in the world to have all of its council-owned courses achieve golf’s highest level of sustainability recognition. All seven golf courses managed by Fife Council’s Fife Golf Trust were awarded certification from the Golf Environment Organization (GEO) recently. To achieve the accolade the courses had to demonstrate commitment to nature protection, resource efficiency and providing value to the community. This recognition follows Zero Waste Scotland engagement with the golf industry around the Ryder Cup in 2014, aiming to drive sustainability in events.
