​TS2020 Annual Report 2018 published


The Tourism Strategy 2020 Annual Report 2017/18 was published today with highlights of the TS2020 related activity happening all over Scotland referenced at the Scottish Tourism Alliance Annual Signature Conference in Glasgow.

Highlights include:

* Update on relaunch of flagship digital programme, Digital Tourism Scotland which has so far engaged with over 20,000 industry professionals and 10% of Scotland’s tourism industry

* News that 35 destination and sectoral strategies are now aligned to the national Tourism Strategy

* 5% increase in entries to the Thistle Awards (total of 750)

* Replacement of Scottish Tourism Week with Scottish Tourism Month

* Launch of the Aspiring Leaders Programme in Glasgow.

* Celebration of Green Tourism’s 20th anniversary and publication of special report highlighting member contributions

* Formation of industry/public sector steering group to create a Tourism Data Opportunity Plan as a means of increasing data driven innovation

* News of the formation of three new businesses providing travel tech solutions as a result of the Edinburgh Tourism Innovation Challenge

* The launch of the National Framework to Grow Food Tourism

* Publication of report into the collaborative economy

* Commitment by 14 destinations to become Worldhost Regional Destinations

* More than 11,200 participants completed Glasgow Welcomes courses/attended events

* 2559 people have undertaken hospitality and travel related Modern Apprenticeships

* Development of a Marine Skills Pathway Plan by Marine Tourism and Skills Development Scotland

* Delivery of a successful, integrated marketing plan by the Scottish Country Sports Tourism Group, supported by the VisitScotland Growth Fund

* Research announced showing that the value of golf tourism and events has soared to £286 million

* Growth in mountain biking tourism in Scotland as a result of new trails, hosting world class events and improved marketing

* The launch of the first VisitScotland Business Events digital marketing campaign, Project Legend which to date has generated 29m impressions, 7260 mentions and four events with an estimated value of £202,000

* Five new projects receiving funding as a result of the Tourism Destination Development Fund

* 14 groups awarded a total of £379,925 through the VisitScotland Growth Fund, resulting in marketing activity to the value of £759,650
