UK Government publishes response to the Call for Evidence on the proposed package travel directive

In July 2013, the European Commission published a proposal to replace the current European package travel regime with a new directive, designed to reflect developments in the way the travel market operates.

The government’s response to this call for evidence sets out what the UK’s formal position in the negotiations should be. It draws on the views of respondents and our current understanding of the views of other member states. The response also takes into account the Department for Transport’s current review of the Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing (ATOL) as part of its domestic reform programme.
