In July 2013, the European Commission published a proposal to replace the current European package travel regime with a new directive, designed to reflect developments in the way the travel market operates.

It draws on the views of respondents and our current understanding of the views of other member states. The response also takes into account the Department for Transport’s current review of the Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing (ATOL) as part of its domestic reform programme.
