It's All About the Place & the People: Destinations Mini-Conference

Destinations, towns and cities are identified one of five key assets of Scottish tourism in the national tourism strategy, Tourism Scotland 2020. There are over 30 destination organisations in Scotland, all of whom are working hard to strengthen and grow the sector and the visitor experience in their areas, through the implementation of their own destination plans, linked to the national strategy.

It's All About the Place & the People: Destinations Mini-Conference took place during Scottish Tourism Week 2017 and was aimed specifically at destination leaders, such officers, Board or committee members of destination groups, destination managers in public agencies and Local Authorities and others who are active in supporting their destination activities. The event provided an opportunity for these professionals to come together to share ideas and best practice around destination development and marketing in Scotland.

On the day, we were joined by over 100 delegates and the feedback we’ve received to date has been positive - we’re delighted that the destination focused event worked well and that you left with refreshed ambition.

We have the speaker presentations available online for you to download so please do take ten minutes out of your day to digest these all important facts, figures, insights and analysis.

During the conference, we asked delegates two questions;

1) What do you see as the role of DOs in 2020 & beyond?

2) What do we need to think about now to make DOs fit for purpose in 2020 & beyond? Click here to view a snapshot of responses
