Scottish Agritourism Virtual Conference

The first virtual Agritourism Conference will take place on the 12th November

9:45 AM – 1:00 PM

Scottish Agritourism formed officially as a sector body sitting within the umbrella of the Scottish Tourism Alliance, 3 months ago. A strong and motivated network with a shared goal of growing agritourism in Scotland, our members are ambitious for the future of our sector, despite a challenging year coping with the impact of COVID.

This conference will focus on:

  • what agritourism is delivering for farming, food and drink, tourism and the rural economy as a whole and what more is to come
  • why tracking the growth of the sector will help to shape future policy, strategy and investment
  • marketing Scottish Agritourism to domestic and international audiences and the roll-out of the Go Rural brand

We are delighted to be joined by our keynote speaker, Hans Embacher from Austria. Hans has been a director of the Austrian Farm Holidays Association since 1991 and is one of the key players in agritourism and rural tourism in Austria. He is also Vice-president of the European Association for rural tourism (“Eurogites“) also in Europe. Austrian Farm Holidays currently promotes over 2300 members internationally and has helped Austria to achieve status as one of the world leaders in agritourism.

Tickets are free for Scottish Agritourism members

Non-member price is just £25 + VAT

Our Sponsors

We are extremely grateful for the support of Johnston Carmichael as the main event sponsor for this conference.

Johnston Carmichael is Scotland’s largest independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, with a team of trusted experts based in 13 strategic locations across Scotland and beyond who are always on hand to listen, learn and advise. They provide high quality accountancy services and business advice to a wide range of sectors, all of which are vitally important to the Scottish and UK economy, and have expertise across all areas of accounting and finance – from audit and tax, to business and personal finance.

They’ve been cultivating relationships in the agricultural community for over 80 years, and with many of their experts coming from farming backgrounds themselves, they can provide invaluable insight into the matters that impact on you most.

Acting for over 1,700 rural clients across Scotland, they advise on key issues as they crop up, including dealing with decreasing farm prices and increasing costs, managing cash flow, tax issues and diversification of the farming business; and are fully informed about land succession, changes to capital allowances, the tax implications of diversifying and any other business or personal tax issues you may need support with.

Our coffee break is kindly sponsored by Ledingham Chalmers

Described in the Legal 500 rankings as having “in-depth knowledge and bags of experience,” we advise rural clients on matters including succession, agricultural tenancies, crofting law, business restructuring and all aspects of property law including purchase and sale, as well as land ownership. Across four Scottish locations, we also deal with specialist matters such as diversification and dispute resolution.
