STA News: Scottish Tourism Alliance appoints new Policy Support Consultant
The Scottish Tourism Alliance is delighted to welcome Elaine Wilson as the organisation’s new Policy Support Consultant, a new role which will strengthen and consolidate its position as the leading representative body for Scotland’s tourism industry.
Elaine, who is an experienced policy, research, and communications professional, with extensive knowledge of Scotland’s political and policy landscape, will work closely with the STA Executive Team, Board and Council to help shape response and representation of the sector to Government and its agencies.
Elaine has led on major projects including V&A Dundee’s final evaluation report, which detailed the impact of the £80 million project for the National Lottery Heritage Fund and other key public funders, including the benefits to tourism of the museum.
Most recently, she has provided The Open University (OU) in Scotland with ongoing policy and communications support, including a strategic review of positioning and policy priorities for the 2021 Scottish Parliament elections and in response to COVID-19.
Before becoming freelance, Elaine was a Senior Policy Advisor for the Care Inspectorate, leading on parliamentary inquiries and government consultations.
Elaine Wilson said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining the team at the Scottish Tourism Alliance, building on the work the organisation has already undertaken to support Scotland’s tourism industry as we look towards recovery and delivering Scotland Outlook 2030.
“It is a pivotal time to amplify the voice of Scotland’s valuable tourism sector, in the face of unprecedented cost-of-living pressures and continuing challenges impacting on members from over two years of COVID disruption. I hope my new role can further contribute to realising our vision of Scotland becoming the world leader in 21st century tourism.”
