A new National Strategy for Economic Transformation, underpinned by detailed analysis of Scotland’s economic strengths and challenges, has been published.
The strategy contains over 70 actions across five key priority programmes and sets out how Scotland’s position in new markets and industries will be strengthened, generating new, well-paid jobs from a just transition to net zero and with the economy reoriented towards wellbeing, fair work and reduce poverty.
Economic transformation will be delivered through five key change programmes focused on productivity, a fairer and more equal society, opportunities from new markets, entrepreneurship and skills – each of which will comprise a series of focused delivery projects.
A Delivery programme will mark a step-change in the way the Scottish Government and business work with each other in the national endeavour to transform the economy.
The Strategy was launched by Finance and Economy Secretary Kate Forbes at Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc in Dundee. You can read her full speech here. A news release is also available.
A summary version of the Strategy has been produced as well as an evidence paper which considers the structure and performance of the economy.
