The Scottish Tourism Alliance responds to Scottish Government announcement of the support package

The industry very much welcomes that the Scottish Government is fully engaged with us and recognises the severity of the risks to thousands of businesses across Scotland. This initial package of measures is urgent and appreciated.

Many need help to get through this situation; we do not want viable successful businesses to fail because of a short term crisis. Businesses of all sizes are at risk. Many good businesses that have been around for generations, others that are newer and were building sustainable futures. None are immune.

We know public money is scarce but it has to be a good use of our collective resources to keep businesses and jobs going.

We will keep in very close touch with our members and the Scottish Government to ensure that if an enhancement to this package of measures is needed – as we think it will be – that the Minister is kept fully aware.

We believe more will be needed in the near future and hope and believe that the Government is prepared to act further.

This is a time that requires us all to pull together.
