Scottish Agritourism Members Offer Evidence of Covid-19 Business Impact
Scottish Agritourism has launched a plea to politicians and officials for greater sector recognition amid Covid-19 uncertainty.
Ten agritourism businesses met virtually to discuss the impact Covid-19 restrictions has had on their business, turnover and mental health. In particular, recent changes to travel restrictions.
Some of the businesses who took part said they had seen turnover fall by around 90% after stricter travel restrictions were introduced with the regional tier system.
Scottish Agritourism businesses are eager to outline
- The impact of losses from cancelled bookings with customers not able to travel
- The importance that micro and small businesses in rural Scotland are recognised for their contribution to the economy and there is recognition for the impact on these businesses from Covid-19
- The impact on family farms and crofts from the loss of family income from tourism at a time of uncertainty from both Covid-19 and Brexit
