First Minister confirms latest lockdown levels for Scotland
Nicola Sturgeon outlined the latest lockdown levels to the Scottish Parliament, announcing that:
- All level 4 areas in Scotland go down to level 3
- Inverclyde, Falkirk and Angus down from 3 to 2
- Dumfries and Galloway and Scottish Borders down from 2 to 1

The First Minister also confirmed that the Finance Secretary will be announcing a package of support to the hospitality sector tomorrow.
The news today of improvements in the R number is very positive as a result of the application of the harsher level 4 restrictions, as is the announcement that five local authority areas will go down to levels 2 and 2, presenting tourism and hospitality businesses that have managed to remain open with an opportunity to trade more extensively in their local communities.
The restrictions on travel within the areas moving to level 3 will have a knock on impact into tourism businesses in other parts of Scotland and still limit many in being able to trade in a viable way.
We look forward to learning more detail on the package of support for hospitality businesses which will be announced tomorrow; it is vital that these funds are delivered as expediently as possible to avoid further business closure within the sector and the further loss of jobs.
