Industry Update: Benholm Group’s Botanical Transformation at W Hotel Edinburgh
Benholm Group is proud to announce its latest collaboration, a stunning botanical transformation at the newly opened W Hotel Edinburgh. Located in the heart of the iconic St James Quarter, the W Hotel Edinburgh offers guests breathtaking panoramic views of the city’s skyline and an experience of unparalleled sophistication. Renowned for its avant-garde designs, W Hotels, part of the Marriott International portfolio, continue to set global standards of innovation in the hospitality industry, and the W Hotel Edinburgh is no exception.
Recognising the pivotal role of biophilic design in enhancing guest experiences, the management team at W Hotel Edinburgh sought a seamless integration of natural elements to support their brand’s luxurious and innovative image. They enlisted Falkirk-based, commercial plant designers, Benholm Group for their expertise and creativity in meeting the hotel’s planting requirements.
Benholm undertook a comprehensive integration of interior and exterior plantings, starting with impactful planters at the main entrance and lobby, creating an inviting and lush welcome for guests. Over 100 decorative moss bowl displays were placed in guest rooms, adding a touch of natural elegance and tranquility. Extensive interior and exterior planting were implemented on the terraces and common areas, ensuring that every corner of the hotel was adorned with greenery.
The biophilic elements seamlessly integrated into the hotel’s design offer a contemporary ode to the city of Edinburgh while honouring the heritage of the Marriott International group. This project sets a new standard for the power of plants in the hospitality industry.
Benholm Director, Adrian Byne commented: “plants possess an incredible ability to breathe life and vibrancy into any space. Our collaboration with W Hotel Edinburgh demonstrates how the strategic use of plants can redefine luxury – not only enhancing visual appeal but also promoting a sense of well-being and connection with nature which resonates with every visitor.”
