Joint call to Chancellor to reinstate Duty Free Shopping in upcoming Budget

The STA together with AIR, UKinbound, and Essential Edinburgh are holding a series of round tables with stakeholders and MP’s and are calling on the Chancellor Rachel Reeves to reinstate Duty Free Shopping in the upcoming UK budget on November 26th.

We would encourage all in our industry to make the case to your local Scottish MPs to back this ask.  For Scotland AIR estimates a reversal could result in additional £92m shopping spend by non-EU visitors and additional £365m being spent by EU visitors on shopping, accommodation, hospitality, travel, leisure in when combined totalling £457 million, with an additional 9140 jobs being created in Scotland alone.
