Agritourism Lead, Scottish Agritourism
Caroline is a farmer, owns and runs an agritourism business called The Hideaway Experience in Angus and has provided independent consultancy advice to farmers and tourism business owners since 2007. Current projects include the facilitation of the Scottish Enterprise Agritourism Monitor Farm programme and a project in Canada to develop a strategy for agritourism.
Caroline is the lead for Scottish Agritourism, and with others, has been working over the past ten years to have this sector recognised as a key growth opportunity. Caroline undertook a Nuffield Scholarship studying agritourism in 2012. She spoke at the World’s 1st Agritourism Congress in Italy in November 2019 and she has undertaken several learning journeys with Scottish farmers to Italy to learn from the global market leaders.
Caroline is a Scottish Enterprise Rural Leader, sits on the Scottish Tourism Alliance Council, and plays an active part in the local economy in Angus and Dundee.
