Owner, Coruisk House / Co-Chair, Institute of Directors Highlands and Islands / Executive Chair of NC500 Ltd

Clare Winskill is the Owner of Coruisk House and Co-Chair of the Institute of Directors (IoD) Highlands and Islands.

Clare’s love of the Highlands started as a child visiting her grandparents’ home in Assynt. In 2011 Clare moved to the remote fishing village, Elgol, on the Strathaird peninsula of Skye where she and her partner, Iain, have grown their businesses; Coruisk House, Restaurant with Rooms and Skye Fine Wines.

Clare’s first vocation was as an Intensive Care Nurse at Guy’s Hospital in London. She subsequently obtained a law degree at Kings College London and practised as a restructuring and insolvency solicitor in the London offices of international law firm DLA Piper UK LLP, appointed Associate in 2008, and acting for lenders both before, during and after the 2008 financial crisis.

Clare is a passionate advocate of tourism as a force for good, leading economic recovery and boosting inward investment where it is needed most. Clare is keen to see the potential of the Highlands and Islands realised sustainably so that it can play its part in recovery, regeneration and in making Scotland the world leader in 21st century tourism.
