Managing Partner at 56 Degree Insight
Jim has over 30 years’ experience both client-side and agency side in tourism research. Along with co-Managing Partner, Duncan Stewart, he set up 56 Degree insight in 2019. The company undertake full service travel, tourism and leisure research for a wide range of clients in Scotland and further afield. The company undertake the quarterly Scottish Tourism Index, a survey of Scottish consumers’ holiday behaviours, attitudes and sentiment. This was set up during the first Covid lockdown period in May 2020 to provide an ongoing understanding of changing consumer attitudes towards travel.
Prior to setting up 56 Degree Insight, Jim was a Senior Director at Kantar, the world’s largest custom market research company. Latterly, along with Duncan Stewart, he headed up the group’s Scottish office in Edinburgh. He managed the main source of UK domestic tourism data, the Great Britain Tourism Survey (GBTS) for fifteen years. Prior to this, Jim worked client-side in VisitScotland’s research department for eight years.
