Scotland’s tourism industry – welcoming all!
However you consume your news, we hope that you’ll have seen one of the many articles citing the STA’s reaction to the announcement of the UK Government’s immigration policy.
The STA has been active on this issue since the EU Referendum and we are about to ramp up that activity in a big way, but for now, as we head into the final days before the STA Signature Conference 2020 and the launch of Scotland’s future tourism strategy and headline actions, we just wanted to do something really positive at the end of what has felt like a challenging week.
We normally welcome around 450 people to our signature conference. This year we’re hovering around that number and we have ten days to go where all the remaining tickets get snapped up in a mad rush when people remember that the date is almost upon us. So, we expect to sell out.
We’ve had a pow wow this morning because this is what we want to do…
We want to send a really strong message today to every single person working within Scotland’s tourism industry that we value you, you are welcome here, you are a vital part of our industry, we need you and we want you.
We really can’t exist without you – you are our future.
With that in mind, we have juggled some budgets about, made some calls and created some more spaces at this year’s conference for any delegate who is already booked to attend to bring someone who is new to your tourism business, or Scotland or the tourism sector.
Scotland’s tourism industry is about people; welcoming people, connecting with people and giving people the opportunity to have incredible experiences, whether they’re visitors or part of our sector.
We’re a non-profit so as much as we’d love to give away free places to attend our event, we can’t, because we have bills to pay.
But…we can balance things out on this one and put a two-day ticket at £60 + VAT for someone in your business who you feel could do with a bit of a boost, recognition that they’re a star or just to feel that they are welcome in an industry or country where they might not know so many people and may benefit from being brought under our wing for a couple of days to make friends and hear insights and inspiration that will make them feel great about the job they do in your business and our industry. We want them to leave having had a great experience with us, to feel a valued part of Scotland’s tourism industry and see a bright future ahead.
Tourism can be a force for good – we are good people doing great things.
If you would like to bring a colleague who is new to your business, a rising star, maybe new to Scotland or our tourism industry, under the age of 30 with you to our conference on 4th and 5th March, please email events@stalliance.co.uk with the name, position and email address of your colleague and we will organise their ticket and ensure that they have a great experience with us.
Logistically, we need to put a deadline on this of Tuesday 5pm as it’s so close to our conference date but we hope between now and then, you’ll be able to think of someone deserving of this.
