Support from the STA network: Eyebright Utilities advice on energy
Last week (Wednesday 20th September), the Government announced details around the non-domestic Energy Bill Relief Scheme (EBRS). The Government will provide discounts on gas and electricity unit prices through supporting the wholesale costs of energy for the period 1st Oct 22 to 31st March 23.
We spoke to our utility partner, eyebright, for their thoughts on how the changes would impact Scottish Tourism Alliance members.
Michael Dogan, energy consultant at eyebright, said: “The price cap will help some businesses, but for others they’ll already have a fixed-term utility contract that’s lower than the maximum cost per unit set by the Government.
Organisations we’re speaking to have been asking questions, such as, ‘what will the rates become after wholesale costs are added?’, ‘what length of contract should I sign?’ and ‘what financial savings will my business be eligible for?’. Our energy-intensive clients have flexible energy contracts and they’re keen to know what the EBRS will mean for their business. The answer to these questions and many more will be dependent on each organisation’s current situation. We can analyse existing utility agreements and provide a detailed report that offers clarity and reassurance for business leaders.”
