The Scottish Tourism Index – Monitoring the Views of Scots about Holidays and Breaks

After running the Scottish Tourism Index for several waves during the peak of the pandemic as a means of tracking the views of the Scottish population around holidays and breaks, 56 Degree Insight has relaunched the survey as a quarterly tracker of Scottish opinion and holiday behaviours.

They interviewed over 1,000 Scots last Monday/Tuesday (18-19 April) and the results can be viewed on their website using the link below.

Highlights include an increasing likelihood of Scots holidays this year (72% of Scots likely to do so) and although holidays in Scotland remain most popular (41% will take a home holiday) there is increasing interest in holidays to the Mediterranean -especially Spain, with 14% of Scots planning a holiday there this year.  Also however, we are seeing the major impact of the cost of living crisis – over half of Scots’ holiday choices and decisions are being impacted top a major extent, whilst the war in Ukraine and COVID are also having major effects on holiday decisions.
