ASVA attractions survey results – August

The Association of Scotland’s Visitor Attractions (ASVA) undertook research last month to examine four key areas:

• The current percentage of attractions open again since lockdown ended
• The level of economic sustainability at which attractions are operating since re-opening
• The impact of 2 metre physical distancing measures on economic sustainability
• The key actions that are required in the immediate/short term to help attractions operate at a more economically sustainable level.

The results show that whilst more and more attractions have opened their doors again following lockdown, the sector is still a long way from being in a secure position.

Only 28% of attractions believe that they are currently operating at an economically sustainable level since re-opening and given that we are now reaching the end of the main season, this is a very telling and worrying statistic.
