Industry Update: 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships – the latest advice and information for businesses, including the Men Elite Road Race
The 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships begin this week, running from Thursday 3rd to Sunday 13th August.
Events will take place across the country, potentially having an impact businesses, staff, customers and visitors.

More information on the Men Elite Road Race
Edinburgh is set to host the start of the Men Elite Road Race. This free to attend event will see the world’s top riders race through the city centre and is scheduled to start at 09.30am on Sunday 6th August, at Horse Wynd in the Holyrood area of the city centre.
After the start, the course will take riders up the Royal Mile, down The Mound, across Princes Street, George Street and Queen Street before turning west through Stockbridge and Craigleith. It then joins the Queensferry Road, travelling along the A90 through Davidson’s Mains and Barnton towards the Queensferry Crossing on the M90. The race is expected to leave the City of Edinburgh boundary for Fife at approximately 10.02am. The route then continues through west Fife, Clackmannanshire, Falkirk, Stirling, and East Dunbartonshire, before finishing in Glasgow. A map of the route can be found here.
Road Closures
In order to facilitate the race safely and legally, there will be some impact to local residents and businesses, including road closures along the route.
Roads around the race start at Holyrood and the Royal Mile will be closed from near Holyrood, from 00.01 on Sunday 6 August, until the race departs at 9.30am. Beyond Bank Street, roads along the route will operate rolling closures across the event, with roads closed to usual traffic for around 30 minutes.
