Industry Update: Charity Puts Wellness On The Board with Flight Club Edinburgh
Hospitality Health – a Scottish charity dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of those in the hospitality & tourism industry has awarded its Wellness Charter to Flight Club in Edinburgh.
The charity is on a mission to change the way the industry thinks about mental health, and they want those who work within the industry talking about it. They believe that recognising and understanding emotions is essential for employers and giving them the tools and skills to understand stress will lead to positive change.
Hospitality Health was founded over six years ago and several organisations have been awarded the charter, Flight Club Edinburgh, being the latest to receive one.
Speaking at the presentation, Phoebe Askham, Sales & Events Manager of Flight Club Edinburgh commented: “We are extremely delighted to be awarded the charter from Hospitality Health. We have been working hard to keep the wellbeing of our team at the forefront, this confirms the great work we have been doing”
“Gordon and the team at Hospitality Health are so passionate about helping those that work in the industry by providing invaluable information to anyone that may be facing work or personal worries. We have communicated the Hospitality Health website to all our team, and will continue to remind them that there is a wider support network of like-minded professionals who they can connect with should they wish. This is a fantastic charity that is current and definitely needed in an industry that whilst is very rewarding can be very tough!”
Gordon added: “What we are trying to achieve with Hospitality Health is to equip our industry with the right tools and mental health first aid certificate training to not only address mental health but to put staff welfare first. We launched Hospitality Health in Glasgow over 6 years ago with 100 operators in attendance and we have grown considerably, with a real need for mental health support.”
